The Uganda National Musicians Federation is a dynamic and vibrant organization dedicated to promoting, supporting, and advocating for the musical arts in Uganda. We represent a diverse range of musicians, from traditional artists to contemporary performers, across all genres and styles.
Registered under Business Registration Number (BRN) 80034692476173, UNMF represents a groundbreaking initiative that brings together regional associations, music value chain associations, and special groups associations. This unique structure allows us to embrace and empower musicians from every corner of Uganda, ensuring their involvement and representation in the shaping of the nation’s vibrant musical landscape.
As an umbrella organization, UNMF aims to create a cohesive platform that promotes the collective interests of musicians, ensuring their professional growth, welfare, and protection of their rights. We believe that by fostering collaboration among musicians and industry stakeholders, we can drive positive change, elevate the status of musicians, and contribute to the cultural and economic development of Uganda.
Our regional associations play a pivotal role in UNMF’s structure. By establishing regional chapters, we ensure that musicians from all areas of Uganda have a voice and representation. These regional associations provide a platform for musicians to network, collaborate, and address issues specific to their regions, while also contributing to the overall growth and development of the music industry at the national level.
In addition to regional associations, UNMF also comprises music value chain associations and special groups associations. Music value chain associations focus on different aspects of the music industry, such as songwriters, composers, producers, engineers, and managers, creating a comprehensive ecosystem that supports the entire music value chain. Special groups associations cater to specific genres, cultural music, or communities, ensuring that the diversity and richness of Uganda’s musical heritage are preserved and celebrated.
We firmly believe that a strong and vibrant music industry contributes significantly to the social, cultural, and economic fabric of Uganda. Through UNMF, we seek to collaborate with relevant government entities, industry stakeholders, and the legal fraternity to create an enabling environment for the growth and sustainability of the music industry. By joining hands, we can develop policies, regulations, and frameworks that protect the rights of musicians, promote fair and equitable remuneration, and provide opportunities for growth and professional development.
